falling asleep in the bath

People are so strange.
There’s this new sickness we all seem to have contracted, the “fear of missing out” and it’s killing us.
Slowly, sure, but it’s still killing us the same.
Everyone wants to know what you’re doing for New Years Eve, what your grades are, what you got for Christmas, what you did last weekend, what you’re doing tonight…
They want to know so they can compare it with their own life.
So they can measure up and see if they’re “living” up to the standard.
I tell them I’m watching Lord of The Rings with my parents for New Years.
I tell them I did alright in my classes.
I tell them I got some books and a movie for Christmas.
I tell them I vacuumed my car last weekend.
I tell them to fuck off I’m busy tonight.
And I fall asleep in my bathtub. I listen to the same CD on repeat. I read half of my book. I workout. I clean my room. I walk my dog. I get a text telling me to come out to a party tonight as I’m starting up a movie. I text back I’m busy. They ask busy doing what. They ask if they can join me. They ask if it will be better than the party. They ask if they can bring their friend. They tell me she’s single. And I tell them no, no, no.
