I just want to shake some people and yell LIFE IS SHORT.
You’re going to die pretty fucking soon. I’m sorry, but you are.
The Olympics were four fucking years ago. That’s four years of your life.
Gone.
Vanished.
There goes another 30 seconds.
Poof.
So here’s what you should do:
- Better yourself. Be the best fucking person you can be, honestly.
- Lose the pettiness. Gone. Get rid of it.
- Forgive and remember to FORGET. People fuck up, people make mistakes, holding a grudge is like carrying a stone, just drop it
- Grab hold of something that you love and never let it go. Ever. No matter how difficult it may seem, it’s the most important thing you’ll ever find.
And it can be any kind of love, love for a sport, a love of cooking, or most importantly, love for another person. - Say Yes. Try new things. The easiest way to get out of your shell is by simply saying yes.
- Treat yourself, every day, once a day, give yourself a present. Don’t plan it, don’t wait for it, just let it happen.
- Learn to live with what you have, not what you want.
- EXERCISE! Nothing beats the feeling of a great workout. Nothing. Find an activity that keeps you active, keeps you moving. Ride a bike, go on a hike, teach yourself to breakdance.
- Read good books. Ask your friends for recommendations, get off Facebook and get into a book.
- Save a little money each paycheck for you. And then spoil yourself when you can. Not often, do it rarely. But buy yourself that prime cut steak. Get that pair of pants you can’t stop trying on.
And remember, you are your own best friend. You can’t ever lose or alienate yourself. You can hate and hate and fucking HATE yourself, but you’ll never leave. You can’t. You will always forgive yourself the next morning (or hate yourself the next morning for last nights fun).
The human body can adapt to almost anything. And it’s important to know that four years from now, when the next Olympics rolls around, you’ll be a completely different (and hopefully better) person.
All these problems you’re dealing with now will be nearly forgotten.
And that’s something to take comfort in (however slight it may be).
Goodnight.
